Code of Conduct

1. Mission and Purpose

The Vegan Label Index serves as a global, independent, and comprehensive resource dedicated to the categorization, verification, and analysis of vegan labels worldwide. Our mission is to empower the vegan community and the public by providing transparent, accurate, and standardized label information regarding vegan label certification.

2. Core Principles

All activities conducted under the umbrella of veganlabelindex.org are governed by the following four pillars:

  • Integrity: We provide unbiased information. Our listings are based on factual criteria and verified certification standards or criterias, independent of commercial influence.
  • Transparency: We believe the consumer has the right to know what lies behind a label. We disclose the methodologies, criteria, and origins of the labels indexed on our platform.
  • Objectivity: We treat all recognized certification organizations and client organizations with equal scrutiny, ensuring that our index remains a neutral ground for comparison.
  • Accountability: We take responsibility for the data we publish and are committed to rectifying any inaccuracies promptly.

3. Information Accuracy and Standards

To maintain international standards of excellence, the Vegan Label Index adheres to the following data protocols:

  • Verification: We strive to ensure that every label listed is cross-referenced with the relevant certification body’s current standards.
  • Exclusion of Animal Testing: We advocate for and prioritize labels that strictly prohibit animal testing and the use of animal-derived ingredients/GMOs throughout the entire supply chain.
  • Continuous Updates: The vegan industry is dynamic. The Vegan Label Index commits to periodic reviews of indexed data to reflect the latest changes in global regulations and certification criteria.

4. Conflict of Interest and Independence

To ensure the trust of the Global Vegan Society:

  • Independent Evaluation: The Vegan Label Index maintains strict independence from the certification organizations it indexes.
  • No Endorsement Bias: While we provide information, we do not "sell" certifications. We act as a bridge between the states/public authorities, the certification organizations, the producer, and the consumer.

5. Ethical Engagement with Stakeholders

  • For Consumers: We provide an accessible, user-friendly, and jargon-free platform to help consumers make informed, ethical choices.
  • For Vegan Label Certification Organization: We provide a professional platform to showcase their rigorous standards to a global audience, fostering healthy competition and higher quality in the industry.
  • For the Public: We contribute to the global discourse on animal welfare and sustainable living by promoting the "Vegan Label" as a mark of trust and environmental responsibility.

6. Digital Responsibility and Privacy

  • Data Protection: We respect the privacy of our users and stakeholders in accordance with global data protection regulations (GDPR and similar frameworks).
  • Professional Conduct: All interactions on our digital platforms must be respectful, inclusive, and free from discrimination, reflecting the non-violent and compassionate ethos of the vegan movement.

7. Commitment to the Vegan Culture

The Vegan Label Index is more than a database; it is a guardian of the "Vegan Trust." By instilling confidence in labeling, we help protect the integrity of the vegan culture and ensure that "vegan label" remains a claim of substance, not just a marketing tool.
